Hair should always be pulled back away from face and off of neck. Long ponytails should be securely pinned into a bun. If hair is short, it must be too short to be tied or pinned back. As a reminder, dance wear should be clean and all dancers above age 10 should apply deodorant before dance class! Students who are not in compliance with ANY aspect of the Dress Code may be asked to observe or leave class.
Inclement Weather:
In case of inclement weather, please call the studio to find out if classes are being held. We do send an email out to notify you of classes being canceled but you must provide us with the proper email address. If the Baldwin City school district has closed due to inclement weather the studio will also be closed.

DANCE CLASS ETIQUETTE FOR STUDENTS

Studio Conduct
Before Class: If the studio door is open, intermediate and above students have permission to enter an empty studio prior to their class for the purpose of warm-up. Younger students, under the age of ten, are not allowed in studios before their class time or without supervision.
During Class: Quiet is required of all students once class has begun. Students are expected to be courteous, respectful, and well behaved. Disrespectful, uncooperative, or aggressively competitive attitudes are not acceptable from parents or students and those behaving in such a way will be asked to leave.
After Class: Students are encouraged to exit the studio quietly taking all personal belongings with them. If there is a situation that needs to be discussed, students/parents should be brief or schedule a time with the instructor without interrupting the class schedule.
Studio Equipment: All studio equipment, including stereos, mats, exercise equipment, hand-held musical instruments, scarves, hula-hoops, etc., are for class use only.

Classroom Behavior Guidelines
Arrive at least ten minutes early to prepare appropriately for class. If late, wait for the exercise in progress to be over before entering studio. Students arriving late may be asked to observe instead of participate.
Enter and exit through the High Street entrance only.
All cell phones must be turned off during class.
If a student needs to leave early, he/she must ask the teacher's permission before class begins. Please leave discreetly so as not to disrupt class.
If a student has a question, he/she should raise their hand.
Students should never stop in the middle of an exercise unless an injury is sustained.
If a student has an injury, or sustains an injury during class, any shoes must be removed, and he/she may be asked to observe class. An ice pack is available in the freezer.
Eyes and attention should always be on the teacher. Talking, leaning on the barre, yawning, or leaving class before it is over is not acceptable.
Be appreciative of corrections and apply them. Students will progress only to the extent that they are able to apply corrections.
Students should not talk back to the teacher regardless of the situation. It is improper to question the teacher's authority. If there is a problem, students may talk to the teacher briefly after class or discuss it with the office manager.
Students should be kind to classmates. A positive attitude and tone must be kept at all times in the studio and waiting area. Displays of bad temper and rudeness are unacceptable. The teacher reserves the right to ask a student to leave if negative behavior is observed.
Gum chewing, eating, and drinking are prohibited in the studios other than water or non-sugary drinks. Students should remember to use the trash receptacles.
Students should leave the dance studio area as soon as class is over.
After class, students should applaud the teacher and thank him/her for class. In ballet, a bow or curtsy is appropriate.

Being Late to Class
We understand that being late is sometimes unavoidable for all of us. However, a student who is more than ten minutes late for class may be asked to observe rather than take the class. The final decision is at the discretion of the instructor. This is NOT a disciplinary measure but is done with the student's best interests in mind – especially where higher level classes are concerned. A student who misses the first few exercises in center warm up or at the barre runs the risk of injury by not being properly warmed up. Parents, please make sure the student understands this. We have this policy because we care about the health and safety of our students.

TUITION
Tuition for lessons at Baldwin Academy of Dance is an annual fee (academic year, not calendar year) which is paid in nine (9) monthly installments. The annual tuition is based on the total number of hours of classes per week. As the number of hours per week increases, the overall hourly rate decreases. The monthly rate is based on the total hours of weekly classes for all members of a family who are enrolled. Monthly installments do not necessarily reflect the number of classes in any given month. Each class is guaranteed to meet a minimum of 32 times during the school year. In most cases, the actual number of class sessions over the year is greater. Should any one class meet less than 32 times due to bad weather, etc., make-up classes will be scheduled.
Monthly tuition installments must be paid by automatic bank account debit or automatic credit card payment. Tuition will be debited from your bank account or charged to your credit card account on the 1st day of each month from September through May. The month of September is non-refundable. Credit card or bank debit payments are not accepted for in-person payment on a monthly basis. Payment must be paid by pre-authorized automatic monthly payment. Annual tuition paid in full at time of registration made by cash or check will receive a 10% discount.

REGISTRATION FEES

There is an annual, non-refundable registration fee of $20 for the first student and $10 for each additional student from the same family.

NSF PAYMENTS

Insufficient funds and declined credit card payments will be charged a $25 NSF fee. Said NSF fee will be electronically debited from bank account or credit card account on file, per the Policies and Procedures agreement signed at time of registration.

COSTUME PAYMENTS

Costume payments will be $65. Costume payments will include tights and all accessories. Costume payments must be paid for by automatic bank account debit or automatic credit card payment. For your convenience, costume payments are processed in two equal payments on November 1st and March 1st. Competitive costumes and some ballet costumes may generate additional costs. Once the costumes have been ordered, automatic payments may be processed even if a student withdraws from the class.

MISSED CLASSES

Any missed class may be made up in a similar level within one month of the missed class. Please check with your child's instructor for her recommendations. No refunds or reductions are made for missed classes. If a class is canceled the instructor will notify you of a makeup class.

WITHDRAWAL FROM A CLASS

There is a two month minimum for all lessons. Thirty (30) days' notice from the first class of the month is required to withdraw from any classes. Withdrawal must be done in person and will not be accepted over the phone. Withdrawal must be done at the studio office and not with the instructor. To withdraw from a class the parent or adult student must: 1) Inform studio administration in person; and 2) Complete and sign a withdrawal form provided by the studio office. All automatic bank debiting or credit card charges will stop after the 30 days' notice period.
